Fundraising
Interest Link is a small independent organisation without large reserves or a
parent body, and raises funds on an annual basis for its befriending service for
adults with learning
disabilities. It receives funding from the Big Lottery
Fund, Scottish Borders Council and several Grant-making Trusts (click here for
a full
list), but also needs to raise as much money locally as possible.
Set out below are a number of ways to help with our
fundraising. Most of
them do not require you to part with any cash and we hope there is something to
suit everyone.
- Join Friends of Interest Link: for an annual subscription of £12, you will
receive your local
branch’s newsletter and invitations to branch and Borders-wide social events
such as the annual Garden Party. You would also be invited to branch and
project Annual General Meetings and be able to influence Interest Link’s
development. You can
download an application form
- Go through our affinity site at
www.buy.at/interestlink on
your way to shopping at stores such as
Amazon,
HMV, John Lewis, Littlewoods and M&S: a percentage of the money you spend will
go to Interest Link.
- Donate your old mobile phones to us: we receive £4 for every mobile
we send to Community Fonebak, who will recycle them or send them on to
developing countries. If you or your family have an old phone, please
email us to ask for a mailing bag or arrange collection If you wanted to start a
collection for us at school or work, we could provide you with publicity
posters and leaflets.
- Donate goods or
services that could be used as raffle prizes or sold at a charities market or
in our eBay charity shop: old books, jumble, unwanted Christmas
presents or brand-new goods.
